MEMORÌA COMES FROM KIRIGAMI, AN ANCIENT JAPANESE TECHNIQUE OF PAPER FOLDING AND CUTTING. THIS SUSPENSION LAMP IS IN FACT MADE FROM A SINGLE SHEET OF UPCYCLED POLYETHYLENE, AN INDUSTRIAL MATERIAL WHICH ASSUMES A SENSUAL SHAPE THROUGH A SERIES OF CUTS AND JOINTS. THE DESIGN IS CONCEIVED AS THE EXPRESSION OF A MOVEMENT FROZEN IN TIME, DEFINED AS STATIC DYNAMISM.
TO UNDERSTAND MEMORÌA IT IS NECESSARY TO SPEND TIME AND ATTENTION TO ITS BODY, IN ORDER TO DERIVE THE MOST PERSONAL MEANINGS FROM IT. THE NAME ITSELF REFLECTS THIS ABILITY TO REFER TO MULTIPLE INTERPRETATIONS, SO THAT EACH FRAGMENT OF MEMORY IS INSERTED INTO THE BRIGHT VORTEX THAT COMPOSES IT.
